Philip Dyk, Managing Partner
Mr. Dyk has more than 30 years experience in infrastructure. He is a founding partner of Alinda Capital Partners, one of the world’s largest and most experienced infrastructure investment firms. Mr. Dyk established Alinda’s portfolio management function, was a member of investment committees of Alinda’s funds, and was a board member of various portfolio companies, including, a multi-state regulated gas utility, a multi-state parking company, a municipal lighting company, and a company providing wastewater treatment under a 30-year concession. Prior to Alinda, Mr. Dyk was the Managing Director of Pacific Capital Resources and Atlantis Water Fund. He was a Regional Vice President of Foster Wheeler Capital & Finance Corporation and President of Ahlstrom Capital. He was the head of the project finance team at Union Bank of California. He is a former member of the advisory board to the Institute for Infrastructure Finance and holds a B.A. with honors from Claremont McKenna College.
Robert “Bob” Hostetter, Managing Director
Robert “Bob” Hostetter has over 20 years experience in the asset management industry and specializes in product and business development for seasoned investment teams with new investment products. He served AllianceBernstein, LP as Managing Director and Global Head of Product Strategy where he was responsible for managing the firm’s seed capital investment portfolio across all geographies and asset classes and all new product launches. Prior to AllianceBernstein, Robert held a similar role at William Blair Investment Management where he was responsible for acquiring and growing new investment teams through team acquisition, product development, positioning, and client dialogue. As a consultant with McKinsey and Company, Bob also advised large investment firms on a number of investment, distribution, and operations topics. He began his career as both an operator and investor in the venture capital investment community. Bob received his MBA from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University. He received a BSE in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Duke University where had graduated with Magna Cum Laude and Tau Beta Pi honors. Bob holds the Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designations.
Andre Pieterse, Managing Director
Andre F Pieterse has 28 years of investment banking and advisory experience covering all aspects of debt, equity and advisory. As Managing Director and Head of Private Equity at Absa Capital part of Barclays Capital Andre was responsible for building the Business to a significant contributor to the Absa Capital bottom line. Andre served as a member of the Investment Committee, the Fund Board of Trustees and as a non executive director on the boards of portfolio businesses. Absa Capital Private Equity was rated by the PWC Banking and Finance Survey as the Number 2 PE business in South Africa in 2009. During his career Andre occupied a number of senior management positions gaining experience in all aspects of debt and equity both in South Africa and internationally executing transactions (debt and equity) in excess of R 25.00 billion in a number of sectors such as inter alia Energy, Transport, Telecommunications, Manufacturing and Facilities Management. Prior to joining Absa Capital Andre was head of Structured Finance and Debt Origination at Nedbank. Prior to joining Everstrong Andre was under contract to the IPP office of the Department of Energy responsible for the launch of the Coal Baseload IPP Programme. Andre is a former director of the South African Venture Capital and Private Equity Association. Andre earned a B.Comm Accounting (with distinction) and a B.ACC Honors from the North West University. Andre is currently enrolled to complete his M.Comm Accounting.
Mandla Sibanda, Managing Director – Africa
Mr. Sibanda has over 16 years of global experience in private equity and corporate finance. He is a non-executive director of the Invest in Africa Holdings Group (IAH), an investment holding company focused on African infrastructure with an emphasis on the power sector. He is a seasoned African investment specialist. Before IAH, he was the head of Corporate Finance at Econet Wireless International where he was responsible for mergers and acquisitions as well as equipment finance. At Econet, he spearheaded the acquisition, expansion, and sale of several networks including those in Burundi, Lesotho, and New Zealand. Before joining Econet, Mr. Sibanda was a partner at Gallium, a pan African Investment Company. While there, Mandla managed transactions in Southern and East Africa in the telecoms and transport sectors. He was also an investment analyst at AIG Global Investment in New York, where he helped set up the AIG Africa Infrastructure Fund, and an associate in the emerging markets division of JP Morgan, where he traded government bonds. Mr. Sibanda earned an MBA from New York University and a Masters in Materials Engineering from the University of Cape Town. He also holds a Bachelor’s in Metallurgical Engineering and is currently studying towards a Doctorate in Materials Science at the University of Cambridge.
Wessel Boshoff, Director
Wessel Boshoff is a chartered accountant with over 15 years of operational and advisory experience in financial, accounting and tax management of infrastructure projects and companies primarily in Africa. Prior to Everstrong, Mr. Boshoff was Senior Manager of the Infrastructure Finance team at PWC Corporate Finance in South Africa where he was involved in both buy and sell side valuations and corporate finance advisory in mergers and acquisitions. Activities included a role with the South African National Treasury in promoting institutional investors into large infrastructure projects and leading a team which developed and implemented the financial aspects of a program to acquire in excess of $20bn (6.8 GW) of renewable capacity through long term PPAs. Prior to PWC, Mr. Boshoff was with Centrica Group in the UK where he was Mergers and Acquisitions Manager in which he participated in the origination and execution of several projects including a potential >$3bn acquisition of a utility. Mr. Boshoff was also Financial Manager, Centrica Storage Ltd where his activities included the implementation of cost reduction initiatives saving in excess of $2m against the annual budget and acquisition and restructuring of two gas storage fields. Prior to Centrica, Mr. Boshoff was a member of South African Taxi Finance where his responsibilities included identifying opportunities for business process improvement, and designing, implementing and managing resulting solutions. Mr. Boshoff began his career in the Ernst & Young where he was in the financial services group in Johannesburg, Washington DC and Amsterdam. Mr. Boshoff has a B.Com (Hons) Accountancy from the University of Natal (Durban) and B.Bdg.A (Architecture) from the University of Port Elizabeth.
